Chu Qiao gained some of her memory back, and her mother advised her to go to Yanbei to find a Mr. Wu if she needs help. Just around the same time, she finds out that Yuwen Yue's grandfather is alive. In the past, Yuwen Yue killed her step-brother because he poisoned and killed the grandfather. If the grandfather was always alive, then Yuwen Yue knew about this and still killed her brother in vain. She hates people treating lives like they were nothing, so she decides to leave. On her leaving night, she kills Yuwen Huai's father and blamed it on Yuwen Yue as vengence for her brother.

On her escape, she received help from Yanxun and agrees to go with him back to Yanbei. Yanxun, who knew his life was in danger for the past 3 years, prepared adequately to escape from Da Wei. He utilized the ambition and help from Da Liang country in his escape plans. On the day of the wedding, he slaughters the city and runs back to Yanbei leaving a group of men who had betrayed him previously to be suicidal soldiers. However, Chu Qiao returns and saves the group of men's lives. She became separated from Yanxun for some time.

Da Wei's princess gets raped by Yanxun's men, and blames all her misfortune onto Chu Qiao. Chu Qiao runs into her and her brother while they were en route back to Da Wei. When she left them, a notice was sent to have Chu Qiao captured. Meanwhile, Yanxun is trying to stabilize Yanbei to prepare for the upcoming war with Da Wei. No one in Da Wei is willing to help, and his forces is greatly outnumbered by Da Wei's army. He lost his love for Yanbei.

Da Wei sends all their troops to Yanbei to slaughter the area. However, there were no troops there except for Chu Qiao and a small group of army men. Yanxun, had secretly used another path and abandoned Yanbei! Da Wei's troops are up in the North fighting no one. Yanxun had taken his small troops to attack Chang An and have the family killed for immediate control of the capital.

Chu Qiao was unaware of Yanxun's plans. When she realizes what happened, she stays in the north to defend the civilians against the huge troops of Da Wei.

A man comes and tell Chu Qiao that Zhong Yu is outside the walls to see her. Chu Qiao ask if Zhong Yu knows all the attack against Hong Chuan city, and she confirms that she knows. Zhong Yu tells Chu Qiao "don't you see already?" There's no more troops in Yanbei. This is an empty land. Chu Qiao finds out that Ynaxun is on his way to take Chang An and is very shocked because they left all the civilians defenseless.

Chu Qiao realizes that Yanxun is too cruel and no longer the person she use to know. She stays behind to defend Yanbei irregardless whether the city is hers or not. Zhong Yu purposely let Chu Qiao knows about the truth so she would stay behind and defend her beloved Yanbei. She sends message to Yanxun that Chu Qiao stays behind, and within 5 days, Hong Chuan will most likely all die. This is to urge Yanxun to quickly conquer Chang An. It's Zhong Yu's way of protecting Yanbei.

The soldiers cannot find Chu Qiao and is worried that she had abandoned them. They find her in her armour and rallys the forces to prepare for the battle oncoming. The attack begins at night.

Yanxun receives news that Chu Qiao is still at Hong Chuan, and Yanxun sends notice to return to Hong Chuan. He is stopped by Yuan Cheng. Yanxun says Chu Qiao is the only person he cannot let to die. Yuwen Yue receives notice that Yanxun has retreated.

Hong Chuan city under seige. Princess Chun Er captures Chu Qiao. Yuwen Yue, disguised, saves Chu Qiao. Yanxun arrives and finds Chu Qiao.
