8:58 : Chu Qiao ask the whereabouts of Xiu Li army. Yanxun lies and says they will meet us later. Yanxun's men burn the bridge and made Chu Qiao realize they have been abandoned. She returns to save them

19:00 : Yuwen Huai says Chu Qiao was able to live up to today is because of him. Chu Qiao wants to finish him off today. They step up for dual and Chu Qiao kills Yuwen Huai. Wei's army retreat.

21:00 : Prince receives news on the happenings of Chang An and ask where is Wei general (princess cousin).

21:47 : Yanxun camps outside Chang An for 5 days waiting for Chu Qiao. The guy pushes Yanxun to leave with the wrong words while the girl understands Yanxun's nature and advises nicely. They wait one more night for Chu Qiao

23:00 : Princess goes to follow Yanxun because she is already his bride.

26:00 : Chu Qiao leads Xiu Li army to success 10x, and she instructs to retreat as she thinks the King has sent reinforcements to have them annihilated and their purpose is done as Yanxun should have had enough time to run back safely to Yanbei. She assures the army that Yanxu has sent her to lead them to success, but the army does not believe. The troop pledge allegiance to Chu Qiao

30:00 : Da Wei prince sneaked into Yanxun's camp and attack him with a poisonous knife asking for his sister. Yanxun cuts off the prince's arm. Princess screams "Brother"

35:00 : Xiu Li leader expresses his concern whether Yanbei will allow them back. Chu Qiao assures them because they have repaid their debt and proven their success as a capable troop in being able to leave Chang An. They now have value, and allegiance is stable. They find a group of men who was sent to protect the Wei prince and princess back to Da Wei. Chu Qiao finds the prince injured and the princess raped (in a pg13 scene). (Hah, usually the rape scenese include the actress being terrified with the clothes flying off. You also see the brother whose head is bleeding from a beating in trying to protect his sister.)

42:00 : Princess says she hates them and wants to kill them all. Chu Qiao questions the men, and they said Yanxun ordered them to do so indirectly.Chu Qiao kills the men and sends Xiu Li army to meet with Yanxun while she stays behind and protect the Princess and prince.

Thoughts

I actually quite like the actor for Xiu Li army leader He Xiao (Actor's actual name is Ruan Weijing 阮伟旌). I think his acting skills are not bad. To illustrate what I mean, lets take a look at 7:30 when he finds out the gates were locked. The role calls for a shocked, heartbroken, no time to be sad, stand back up face. He captured it perfectly. You can see his tears, and you can feel his leadership. See below.


When he discovers the gate is locked and is confused.


When he realize he's been abandoned, what is he going to do?, all his men is going to die with him, I am so trapped. The look of agony.


He's scared but he has to make a frickin speech

He Xiao acting skills are not perfect. It's a bit on and off, but he has potential and it seems he is working on it. I just remembered he was the evil assistant leader in The Journey of Flower.



Something to note is that Chu Qiao killed off Yanxun's men after they raped the princess. As you can see, her values and morals is priority above all her masters and leaders.

I find the entire part of how Chu Qiao kills Yuwen Huai like a Vin Diesel stunt. One, why would you enter into a dual between the generals when your forces can just kill off the Xiu Li army and get to the chase with Yanxun. I just love how there was no lieutenant or second in command to take charge and continue fighting. Again, the inconsistency with character is quite annoying now. She falls in the hands of a few assassins but saves 10 men from a huge army in the enemies' city.

How the princess ran off by herself and the whole thing with the prince trying to assassinate Yanxun. This is too unrealistic. The prince has a famous face and none of Yanxun's men realize he's not from Yanbei? LOL, it's like Prince Willliam of England just gonna wear a suit and pretend to be one of Trump's secret forces and no one will know he is Prince William. And plus, no one can tell the difference between a British accent and an American one. -_-

I believe in China, everyone has a slight accent. The moment you speak, people can hear where you are from. The fact that he hid so well is absurd. Did no one see the princess arrive? Is there no one on guard at the camp? I also like how the remaining 10-20 Xiu Liu army morph into like 100 men in the forest. I guess you can join in on last minute recruit for emergency battle with the enemies' people. Right? I believe Yanbei citizens are very far away. So they must recruit in enemy territory.

Maybe the story/book was good, but the movie is very sloppy.
